Celebratory happy hour

I received some happy news recently: I got into med school! I heard awhile ago actually but I didn't announce it since my blog posts are perpetually behind. My friend and I went to celebrate after work at Food Wine and Co. in Bethesda, and it was an amazing meal. They have a great happy hour menu and I couldn't resist ordering a bunch of dishes (I had expected smaller portions) but they gave us a ton of stuff that caught us off guard.

Fresh oysters. I could've slurped a couple dozen of these on my own since they were so fresh.

Fried calamari. Not very interesting and we probably could've done without this dish. I was being too gluttonous I'll admit >.<

Roasted mushroom pizza, with pancetta. The pancetta pieces are so juicy and flavorful, and are what made this pizza so amazing.

Red curry mussels. The broth was so delicious and I loved all the veggies. Although the pizza was my fave dish at the beginning when I was ravenous, this dish grew to be my fave by the end of the meal.

This dessert wasn't on the happy hour menu but I really wanted to order it since it wasn't just a celebration meal but also a cheat meal :P And come on, how do you resist when you see a white chocolate passionfruit creme brulee listed on the menu?
