Longman & Eagle

I celebrated the end of four happy years at Northwestern with a few of my closest friends, since we're each going our separate ways and heading into the beginning of the rest of our lives. I wanted to try somewhere that would be fantastic, so we decided on Longman & Eagle, a one Michelin star rated gastropub in Logan Square. We started with a few drinks (no pictures) and then the food began to arrive.

An amuse of I have no idea what it was

Some sort of fish with quail egg (I'm terrible at remembering names of dishes), which was perfectly tender and the fish/garnishes paired deliciously with the oozy yolk

Softshell crab: battered but not heavy, with some greens to help us feel healthier and a sweet & savory glaze

My main dish: vegetarian sweet corn risotto, with a soft-boiled "one hour" egg, and some veggies that I cannot identify

Desserts: the cornbread donuts drizzled in caramel taste remind me of cream puffs when dipped in the accompanying creme patisserie

Berry trifle: with a hint of passionfruit on a graham cracker crust, but it was a tad too sweet for me (Chris thought it was amazing)

Going around the table: Sue said something that she thought was funny, but apparently David doesn't agree

Cuties

I love my new Ray Bans so much that I'm wearing them indoors

I'm full but Chris isn't quite there yet
