California Road Trip: Mendocino Farms

I interviewed for a position in Los Angeles a few months ago, and they treated me to lunch at Mendocino Farms. There, I ordered the most amazing sandwich - the summer cubano. Slow braised carnitas. Prime honey ham. Mendocino Mustard. Housemade pickles. Cuban mojo sauce. Crispy plantain chips IN the sandwich. I never knew that a sandwich could be so perfect, so I had to bring us here for lunch during our trip.

Check out all the important looking people wearing grown-up suits, standing in the longass line. It definitely reinforces that this place must be delicious.

The prep line was surprisingly efficient considering how crowded it was outside

The sides aka free samples. They let you try some while you wait for your order. I had the chance to try 2-3 while waiting and they were yummy.

David's Kurobuta pork belly bahn mi. He said that this was the best sandwich he's ever had. It sort of reminded me of my cubano (which was even better IMO).

I heavily considered reordering the cubano, but changed my mind because I wanted to try something new, so I chose the Korean short rib sandwich. BAD CHOICE. The flavor combo just wasn't as great, the kimchi made it taste weird and sour...I was just pretty sad. I made David eat more than half of my sandwich. I'm still going to think about that cubano.

Just chillin' at Griffith Park Observatory after lunch
